Royals Announce New Dimensions for Kauffman Stadium


    The Kansas City Royals announced today Kauffman Stadium’s
    outfield wall is being moved in for the 2026 season.

    This change will likely create more home runs (and robbed home
    runs), more extra-base hits, and more exciting action on the field
     – while bringing fans closer to seeing it. The decision was made
     by Baseball Operations for competitive reasons, including to
    bring The K more in line with other Major League ballparks.

    Work on the project has begun, and will be complete ahead of the
    Royals home opener vs the Twins on Monday, March 30.

    “We’ve discussed this possibility for years, and after much work
     by our Research & Development department, believe this will be a
    positive change for our baseball team,” Royals Executive Vice
    President and General Manager J.J. Picollo said. “We wanted more
    consistency throughout the season, while making sure the specifics
     put us in the best position to succeed.”

    The wall will come in 8 to 10 feet starting near each foul pole –
     the gaps will go from 387 feet to 379 – and taper back toward
    centerfield, which will remain 410 feet. The height of the wall
    will also change, from 10 feet tall in most places to 8 ½ feet.
    About 150 seats will be added in left field and about 80 new
    drinkrail seats in right.


    堪薩斯城皇家隊今天宣佈，本賽季會縮短 Kauffman 球場的全壘打牆距離。

    這一變化可能會帶來更多全壘打（和被外野手撈回的球）、
    更多的長打和場上更令人興奮的時刻——同時讓球迷更靠近球場。
    棒球運營部門考慮競爭性做出了這一決定，也可讓 Kauffman 球場與
    其他大聯盟棒球場更加一致。

    該工程已經開始，將在3月30日星期一皇家隊主場對雙城隊的開幕戰
    前完成。

    皇家隊執行副總裁兼GM J.J. Picollo 說：「我們多年來一直在討論這種可能性，
    經過研發部門的大量工作，相信這對球隊是正面改變。」 他也提到:
    「我們希望在整個賽季中與其他球團更加一致，同時確保我們處於成功的最佳
    位置。」

    兩側外野到中外野之間的牆，將由387英尺縮短至379英尺——然後中外野保持410英尺。
    牆的高度也會從10英尺降到8 ½英尺。左外野將增加約150個座位，
    右外野將增加約80個吧檯式座位。
