The upshot? Carson Whisenhunt, the Giants’ top pitching prospect, might be on t
he mound at Oracle Park on Monday. Whisenhunt, a 24-year-old left-hander, was sc
ratched from his scheduled start for Triple-A Sacramento on Saturday. Intrigue!

Kai-Wei Teng, who had been pitching well for the River Cats, also had been scrat
ched from his previous start and he got work in relief Friday night, enough to c
ount as a bullpen session, but he walked three and hit a batter in 1 ⅔ innings

.Still, he’s an option. Neither he nor Whisenhunt is on the 40-man roster, so t
he club would have to make a corresponding move to create space.
