Elly De La Cruz turned down largest contract in Reds history

CINCINNATI — Last spring, the Reds made an offer to shortstop Elly De La Cruz t
hat would have eclipsed Joey Votto’s club-record 10-year, $225 million contract
 extension that he signed in 2012. De La Cruz turned it down.

辛辛那提——去年春天，紅人隊曾向游擊手 Elly De La Cruz 提出一份報價，金額將超越
Joey Votto 在 2012 年簽下的隊史紀錄合約（10 年、2.25 億美元）。但 De La Cruz 拒
絕了這份提案。

“We made Elly an offer that would’ve made him the highest-paid Red ever,” Red
s president of baseball operations Nick Krall said Friday. “That’s not where h
e is and you respect that. It’s their career. You keep going and you keep worki
ng on what you can do today.”

紅人棒球營運總裁 Nick Krall 週五表示：「我們給了 Elly 一份報價，足以讓他成為紅人
史上薪資最高的球員。但那並不是他目前所處的位置，你必須尊重這一點。這是他的職業生
涯，你只能繼續向前，專注把今天能做的事情做好。」


De La Cruz, who celebrated his 24th birthday earlier this week, is eligible for
arbitration for the first time in 2027. He will be eligible for free agency foll
owing the 2029 season.

De La Cruz 本週稍早剛滿 24 歲，他將在 2027 年首次取得薪資仲裁資格，並在 2029 年
賽季結束後成為自由球員。


“I let my agent take care of all of that,” De La Cruz said at Redsfest.

De La Cruz 在紅人嘉年華（Redsfest）上表示：「這些事情我都交給我的經紀人處理。」


De La Cruz’s agent, Scott Boras, has not yet responded to a message sent by The
 Athletic.
