To increase their roster flexibility and add more right-handed options in their
bullpen, the Houston Astros are acquiring swingman Kai-Wei Teng from the San Fra
ncisco Giants in exchange for minor-league catcher Jancel Villarroel, multiple l
eague sources told The Athletic on Thursday.

為了提升名單彈性並在牛棚增加更多右投選項，多位聯盟消息人士於週四向《The Athletic
》透露，休士頓太空人將以小聯盟捕手 Jancel Villarroel 為交換，向舊金山巨人交易投
手鄧愷威


To clear a spot on the 40-man roster for Teng, Houston is designating J.P. Franc
e for assignment. Teng will be stretched out as a starter in spring training, bu
t his most straightforward path to making the major-league team may be as a long
 reliever. The Astros plan to open the season with a six-man rotation, magnifyin
g the need for relievers who can pitch multiple innings.

為了在 40 人名單中替鄧愷威騰出空間，太空人將 J.P. France 指定讓渡（DFA）。春訓期
間，鄧愷威會以先發投手方式拉長投球局數，但他進入大聯盟最直接的路徑，可能仍是擔任
長中繼。太空人計畫以六人輪值開季，這也放大了對能投多局數中繼投手的需求。



The 27-year-old has minor-league options remaining. None of Bryan Abreu, Roddery
 Munoz, Nate Pearson or Enyel De Los Santos do, but all four right-handed reliev
ers have an inside track to make Houston’s Opening Day bullpen. Having Teng as
insurance could help make the roster more adaptable.

這位 27 歲投手仍有小聯盟選擇權可用；Bryan Abreu、Roddery Muñoz、Nate Pearson 與
 Enyel De Los Santos 都已沒有下放空間，不過這四名右投中繼手都被看好能進入太空人
開季牛棚。將鄧愷威作為備案，有助於讓名單運用更具彈性。

Clearly, the Astros liked him enough to pay a modest price to jump the claiming
line. Baseball America named Villarroel as the Astros’ No. 20 prospect in its m
ost recent organizational rankings. The 21-year-old Venezuelan catcher reached H
igh-A Asheville last season.
