Within minutes of free-agent left-hander Framber Valdez reaching agreement with
the Detroit Tigers, a rival executive posed the obvious question:

The answer, according to a person briefed on the team’s intentions, is no.

The Tigers have insisted all offseason they want to win in what could be their f
inal season with back-to-back American League Cy Young winner Tarik Skubal.

老虎隊整個休賽季都一再強調，他們的目標是win now，因為這很可能是連兩年拿下美聯賽
揚獎的Tarik Skubal效力球隊的最後一個賽季。




Before locking in Valdez with a three-year, $115 million deal Wednesday night, t
he Tigers were locked in a room, arguing their arbitration case against Skubal.

在週三晚間以三年、1 億 1500 萬美元的合約敲定Valdez之前，老虎隊高層其實正關在一個
房間裡，與Tarik Skubal進行薪資仲裁的激烈攻防。


They are expected to learn Thursday whether a three-person arbitration panel sid
ed with their offer of $19 million or Skubal’s request for $32 million.

預計在週四，球隊將得知由三人組成的仲裁小組，是支持老虎隊提出的 1900 萬美元，還是
Tarik Skubal要求的 3200 萬美元。



If Skubal wins, he will receive the highest salary ever awarded in arbitration,
beating Juan Soto’s by $1 million.

若Tarik Skubal勝訴，他將拿下史上最高的仲裁薪資，金額將比Soto當年的紀錄還多出 100
 萬美元
