The past few Drafts have seen at least one high-ceiling high school pitcher
in the Northeast garner a lot of attention. In 2014, Scott Blewett went in
the second round. Last year, Mike Nikorak snuck into the back of the first
round. This year, it looks like it will be Anderson's turn, though an oblique
injury sidelined the right-hander for a spell, making it a little tougher for
decision-makers to go see him in what is an already brief Northeast spring
season.

The upstate New York native opened a lot of eyes over the summer and with
Team USA's 18U squad and came out of the gates well this spring before the
oblique issue. Tall and projectable with the ability to add strength,
Anderson throws his fastball in the 91-95 mph range with good downhill angle.
His breaking ball can be plus at times, getting swings and misses.
It has slurve action at this point, but could tighten up and become a true
slider in time. Anderson has good feel for an average changeup as well.
He's generally around the strike zone and attacks hitters.

Teams might have to contend with Anderson's commitment to Vanderbilt, but
when healthy, he was being mentioned as a top half of the first round
candidate.
