查克‧瓊斯是怎麼講的呢？
在一次錄影訪問時，他說
“MGM decided they want to do some more Tom and Jerrys and Hanna-Barbera would
n’t do them because they cost too much…”
（MGM決定想再作更多的湯姆與傑利，但Hanna Barbera拒絕了，因為湯姆與傑利成本太高
（Hanna Barbera嫌MGM出的錢不夠多））
“They knew better than that, but they wouldn’t do Tom and Jerry because it w
ould take them as long as they did before.”
（他們非常清楚該怎麼製作湯姆與傑利，但他們不想做，因為他們要花以前一樣多的時間
）
在雪梨的另一次訪問，
現場有人直接問他：
“How did you feel being handed Tom and Jerry to do in regard to so many years
of doing your own characters?”
（在做了這麼多年自己的角色後去做湯姆與傑利，感覺如何？）
他說
“Not good. I didn’t want to do Tom and Jerry.”
（不好，我不想做湯姆與傑利）
“I believe that Hanna-Barbera will be remembered historically as the ones tha
t made those great Tom and Jerrys.”
（我相信Hanna Barbera會因為做了偉大的湯姆與傑利名留青史）
“I didn’t do them very well.”
（我做的湯姆與傑利不是很好）
“Mine were more like the Road Runner and Coyote in drag, I guess.”
（我猜我做的湯姆與傑利更像嗶嗶鳥與大野狼）
“But I tried hard, and I really cared about them, trying to make them right.
”
（但是我努力嘗試過，我真的在乎湯姆與傑利，試著想做得正確）
“I tried my best to do good Tom and Jerrys, and they weren’t bad.”
（我盡全力嘗試去做好看的湯姆與傑利，成果不差）
“But ‘weren’t bad’ isn’t good enough.”
（但是「成果不差」還不夠好）
