Not so long ago, communication took time. If we called someone on the phone,
they might not be home, and we would have to leave a voicemail message that
might not be picked up for hours or days. Instead of instant email, we had to
use a fax - if you still remember these - or the even slower way of postal
mail. Today we can reach someone quickly, and in some cases instantly. Even so,
truly "reaching" someone still takes time. Don't mistake the rapid progression
of communication for a clear understanding of who that person really is. That
will take some time.

在不久之前，通訊是需要花費時間的。過去如果我們打電話給某人，他們可能不在家，
我們會留下語音並且這也許不會在數小時或是數天來接聽。取而代之的是即時電子郵件
，我們以往必須得用傳真機 -如果你還記這些的話- 或用郵寄這種更慢的方式。今天我
們能夠很快地聯繫上某人，在某些情況是瞬間地。但即便如此，要真實地聯絡到對方仍
然需要花費些時間。不要誤認為通訊快速的進步就能清楚了解這號人物是究竟是什麼樣
的人物。那些都是需要時間的。
