福音：若三13-17
【那時候，耶穌對尼苛德摩說：】
沒有人上過天，除了那自天降下而仍在天上的人子。
正如梅瑟曾在曠野裡高舉了蛇，人子也應照樣被舉起來，
使凡信的人，在他內得永生。
天主竟這樣愛了世界，甚至賜下了自己的獨生子，
使凡信他的人不至喪亡，反而獲得永生，
因為天主沒有派遣子到世界上來審判世界，
而是為叫世界藉著他而獲救。
Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross
Gospel JN 3:13-17
Jesus said to Nicodemus:
"No one has gone up to heaven
except the one who has come down from heaven, the Son of Man.
And just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert,
so must the Son of Man be lifted up,
so that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life."
For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son,
so that everyone who believes in him might not perish
but might have eternal life.
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world,
but that the world might be saved through him.
天から降って来た者、
すなわち人の子のほかには、天に上った者はだれもいない。
そして、モーセが荒れ野で蛇を上げたように、
人の子も上げられねばならない。
それは、信じる者が皆、人の子によって永遠の命を得るためである。
神は、その独り子をお与えになったほどに、世を愛された。
独り子を信じる者が一人も滅びないで、永遠の命を得るためである。
神が御子を世に遣わされたのは、
世を裁くためではなく、御子によって世が救われるためである。
