Celtics release finalized training camp roster

Well, the first roster move has been made.  No, the Celtics haven't made a
huge trade, or waived one of their players.  They have announced their roster
for training camp, which begins tomorrow.

In addition to the 16 players that we've known about for months, and who have
been discussed throughout the summer, the Celtics have also signed four
additional players (two guards and two forwards) to training-camp deals.

6'2" guard Corey Walden, a product of Eastern Kentucky, played for the
Celtics Summer League team, appearing in two games.  He showed a balanced
skill set, averaging 2 points, 2.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 3.5 steals in
just over 16 minutes per game.  During his college career, he averaged more
than 18 points and 3 steals per game, showing off both a scorer's mentality
and a defensive tenacity.

Levi Randolph is a 6'4" guard out of Alabama, who played with the Oklahoma
City Thunder Summer League team.  During his five-game summer stint, he
averaged 8.4 points, 2.2 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.6 steals in 31.2
minutes per game.  While he was at Alabama, he led his team with a scoring
average of 15.4 ppg, also logging 5.1 rebounds per contest.  He was named the
2015 SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year, demonstrating a good mind and work
ethic, in addition to his on-court skills.

him compete against the rest of the roster during camp.

The Celtics fourth signing is forward Malcolm Miller.  The 6'7" forward from
Holy Cross was named to the All-Patriot League second team after averaging
14.5 points, 4.9 rebounds, 1.3 steals, and 1.9 blocks per game.  Miller
played for the Celtics Summer League team, appearing in 7 games and averaging
4 points and 1.3 rebounds in just over 12 minutes per game.

Given the glut of contracts the Celtics currently possess (16 guaranteed, of
course), these players have little to no chance of making the Celtics final
roster.  With that being said, they will play an integral role for the team
during camp.  They offer some interesting looks and styles that can be thrown
at the players who will likely make the final cut during training camp.  It
appears that the Celtics brass is content with the camp competition that will
ensue amongst the already crowded front court.  Bringing in a mix of
tenacious defenders, solid rebounders, and scorers at the 2 and 3 positions
will challenge the guards and small forwards on the roster, hopefully
bringing out their best as they enter a new season with raised expectations.

Competition during camp will only be fiercer with these four players added to
the roster.  Stay tuned for more updates throughout the day!
