Having previewed and chronicled our games throughout the nine months, it
is time for club historian Rick Glanvill and club statistician Paul Dutton
to share final thoughts, records and statistics from a memorable campaign…

Champions again! Just as in 2004/05, the 2014/15 league title was secured
with three games to spare. In 2005/06 there were two still to play, in
1954/55 one, and the 2009/10 crown was taken in the last league game of
the season. The final points tally of 87 is the third-highest in the top
flight in our history. Jose Mourinho was also manager for the top two
totals, in 2004/05 and 2005/06.

This is the fifth time the Blues have finished as the finest team in
England and the 16th time we have ended a campaign in the top three. Since
the Second World War only Arsenal (8), Liverpool (14) and Manchester
United (18) have won the league title more times.

The newly-crowned champions were undefeated in all 19 home games, scoring

Chelsea spent an average of 41 minutes per game in a leading position and
were behind in matches for just 223 minutes over the entire league
campaign.

The 0-3 at West Bromwich equalled the heaviest defeat under Mourinho, at
Middlesbrough during his first spell, but it was one of only four losses
during the 54 games we played in 2014/15, the fewest defeats in our 110
years as a football club.

At the end of a sensational season, Hazard was voted Chelsea Player of the
Year and Players' Player of the Year, Barclays Premier League Player of
the Year, PFA Players' Player of the Year and Football Writers'
Association Footballer of the Year.

Hazard was one of five Blues who made the Premier League Team of the Year,
yet only Diego Costa was handed a Player of the Month award, in August.
The following month he scored our one hat-trick of the season, in the 4-2
home win over Swansea.

Everton v Chelsea
The team went on to dominate the title race. Apart from a few days
following matchweek two, when Spurs topped the tree on goal difference,
Chelsea were top from the start of the campaign to the end, a cumulative
274 days, 268 of which were in succession - from the sensational 6-3 win
at Everton to the 3-1 victory over Sunderland on the last day.

Capital One Cup final instilled confidence and boosted a winning mentality
for the run-in. By the season's close Gary Cahill had become the fastest
player in England to win every major trophy with one club.

Our march to glory made popular viewing. Chelsea were involved in the

early encounter at Old Trafford was watched by 3.1m people, almost double
the 1.7m viewers for Chelsea's New Year's Day trip to Tottenham Hotspur on
1 January, covered by BT Sport.

Income from Premier League merit funds, TV coverage fees and league
sponsorship meant the champions earned a record ￡98,999,554 from those
sources this season according to figures released by the Premier League.

Nonetheless there were attempts to denigrate Mourinho and his team's
playing style, and to define how history views Chelsea's success.

At youth level Chelsea were multiple trophy winners too, collecting the FA
Youth Cup and UEFA Youth League. Tammy Abraham and Dominic Solanke, on the
club books since the Under-8 age group, ended the season with a remarkable
41 goals each.

much all season, in difficult circumstances, in difficult matches. Winter,
summer, spring – all season they were behind us. Today they could be
there even if the game had no motivations and even if the result was not a
good result for us. So it was a day to thank them.' Jose Mourinho.
