Monaco's Tiemoue Bakayoko nearing ￡35m Chelsea move as star prepares for
flight to London this weekend

Monaco's Tiemoue Bakayoko is flying over to London this weekend with a
move to Chelsea appearing imminent, Sportsmail understands.


Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is a fan of the 22-year-old, who would fit
into their midfield alongside the ever-reliable N'Golo Kante.


Meanwhile, L'Equipe claim that the Ligue 1 champions and Premier League
winners are close to reaching an agreement over the midfielder's fee,
believed to be near the €40million (￡35m) mark.


The former Rennes player, who attracted interest from a host of Europe's
top sides, including Paris Saint-Germain, both Manchester teams and Bayern
Munich, is determined to make a move to Stamford Bridge.


Discussions between the Blues and Bakayoko's representatives have gone on
for several weeks and a move seems very likely now. It remains to be seen
what will happen with midfielders Cesc Fabregas and Nemanja Matic, both of
whom have admirers from home and abroad.


The Blues have been leading the chase for Bakayoko for a while and are
eager to bolster their squad as they prepare to play in the Champions
League once again next campaign.


The France international made 32 appearances for Monaco last season as
they went on to win the Ligue 1 title, finishing an impressive eight
points ahead of second-placed PSG.

Chelsea are closing in on the signing of Tiemoue Bakayoko after agreeing a
€40 million (￡35m) deal with Monaco, according to reports in France.


L'Equipe claim that Chelsea's board have convinced the Ligue 1 champions
with their offer and are hopeful that their first summer transfer can be
officially announced next week.


The report also claims that Bakayoko is enthusiastic about the prospect of
working under Antonio Conte and the midfielder is determined on joining
the Premier League champions.


Monaco, meanwhile, have quickly found a replacement for Bakayoko in
Soualiho Meite. The 23-year-old midfielder will be arriving from Belgian
side Zulte Waregem for a fee in the region of €8m (￡7m).


Chelsea have been in negotiations with Monaco over the last month but they
have faced competition from Manchester United as Jose Mourinho is also
keen to strengthen his options in central midfield. But with Bakayoko now
set to join Chelsea, United will be expected to push on in their move for
his Monaco team-mate Fabinho.


Bakayoko has been one of Monaco's key players this season as Leonardo
Jardim's side beat Paris Saint-Germain to the Ligue 1 title and reached
the semi-finals of the Champions League.


The 22-year-old's arrival at Stamford Bridge will also fuel speculation
surrounding Nemanja Matic's future under Conte. Matic, who was
instrumental in Chelsea's midfield last season, has been heavily linked
with a move to Manchester United and reports claim that initial
discussions over a move to Old Trafford have already taken place.

Chelsea officially opened talks with Monaco over Bakayoko last month, but
negotiations had slowed down over the Ligue 1 club's ￡43m valuation and
the 22-year-old's wage demands. But the Blues have made a breakthrough
over the fee and Bakayoko is ready to accept Chelsea's terms and undergo a
medical.
