Presnel Kimpembe situation remains the same. Christophe Galtier has
developed a strong early relationship with him. PSG open to a sale but
have told Kimpembe even if a fee is agreed, the final decision will be
down to him. Club aren't ruling out a contract extension beyond 2024.
The key to any deal is still in convincing Kimpembe, who is settled in
Paris. If CFC succeed, PSG are expected to soften a little on his ￡55m
asking price. Clubs are still in talks. Deal not impossible but Kimpembe
won't be forced out. Galtier very happy with his pre-season.

Kounde isn't as big a blow as Raphinha was. Tuchel was never as personally
sold on him as others were at Chelsea - which is why De Ligt and Koulibaly
were prioritised as soon as he began directing recruitment under
Boehly/Clearlake
Aside from the allure of Barca, it's also easy to understand why Kounde
might reject Chelsea; having built his hopes up before pulling out over
price late last summer, they've kept him and Sevilla waiting for weeks
this time around while pursuing other CBs
Ultimately the most damaging thing about this for Chelsea, as with
Raphinha, is they've wasted a lot of time. Preseason is already short, the
squad still needs significant surgery and Tuchel needs time to work with
signings

Barcelona have contracts ready to complete Jules Kounde deal with Sevilla
in the next hours. Fixed fee will be around €50m plus add-ons. No doubts

Barcelona will push again for César Azpilicueta in the next days. Azpi
wants Barcelona move but he's gonna be professional with Chelsea, so
depends on the two clubs now. Jules Kounde will sign with Barca until
June 2027, it's gonna be a five year deal as expected.

Told Leicester won't sell both Maddison & Fofana this summer and it's not
guaranteed either will leave. Fofana has been tracked by Chelsea (and
Manchester United) for some time with a view to future windows, with CFC
considering a push now due to urgent need for a centre-back.
Important to note, LCFC's stance is not for sale this window. Only a big
offer, well above market value, will change that. Club got Fofana to sign
a contract extension in March to basically avoid selling before next
summer.

As per @David_Ornstein, Chelsea are in talks with Marc Cucurella from
Brighton. Real chance of agreeing a ￡50m+ deal if Manchester City don't
meet the asking price and talks ended for now. Cucurella really wants to
play under Pep, but MCFC feel the fee is too high.
As previously reported, Manchester City may turn their attention to
Stuttgart left-back Borna Sosa for around ￡20m. CFC looked at Sosa, too,
but didn't move. He thrives in a 3-4-2-1.
Chelsea also remain firmly interested in Wesley Fofana. Leicester still
don't want to sell. Nothing has changed but further talks expected this
week. Levi Colwill not part of any 'swap' despite LCFC interest in the
defender.

Chelsea and Tuchel are very aligned on their opinion of Cucurella. I spoke
about Chelsea's interest before TT arrived in March 2020. Of course, a lot
of executives has left CFC since then but Tuchel continues to like the
player.
Where will he play? Chelsea played 4-4-2 in pre-season (terribly in the
first half vs Arsenal) so Chilwell could play left back and Cucurella on
the left side of midfield.

Bit more intel on Fofana. Chelsea and Leicester close to ￡20m apart in
initial valuation. CFC are prepared to go up. Further talks this week. PSG
have also enquired. They value Fofana at just under ￡55m all-in. Won't be
enough or even close.
Chelsea looked at Fofana in January and last summer with a view to future
windows. Back then they thought ￡45m with add ons might be acceptable.
But Fofana signed a new deal in March. Leicester really don't want to sell.
Also understand when Fofana signed new deal he was told LCFC would listen
to 'fair' offers in 2023. Leicester prefer to consider a sale next summer.
CFC hoping Fofana's openness to move may see Leicester soften a little on
price. Not impossible but very challenging negotiation.

A threat on Gaga Slonina who will join Chelsea from Chicago Fire after the
MLS season ends. He's signed a six-year deal. First thing to say is he
makes himself look even bigger than an already tall 6'4. An excellent shot
stopper with tremendous reflexes.
His long-ball distribution is strong. He also likes to play
sweeper-keeper. This has led to slightly glib comparisons with Manuel
Neuer. Slonina has termed them “crazy”. But he is certainly very skilful
with his feet and likes to come out the box.
As you would expect for a young keeper there is room for improvement. His
composure will develop over time. He deals with long-range shots quite
well. But he does have a tendency to parry lower shots into dangerous
areas. Loves to punch, too, with mixed results.

Statistically, Slonina is well above the MLS average for clean sheets and
progressive passes. He's below average, however, for prevented goals and
his save rate is relatively low. He has raw talent and thus incredible
potential. Consistency will come over time.
Slonina is 18 and the youngest starting keeper in MLS history. That's
incredible when you consider he only made his professional debut a year
ago. Big things expected from him. Could easily be in the mix for the 2030
World Cup, too, having been capped at USMNT youth level.

Here's what I've been told: Manchester City contacted RB Leipzig about
the availability of Josko Gvardiol last week. A transfer fee was
discussed. But the English champions have NOT made an official bid for the
defender, despite new reports to the contrary.
Chelsea have also been heavily linked with the player throughout the
summer. No official bid from them yet either but they're pushing too. I've
been told the imminent signing of Marc Cucurella won't be in place of
Gvardiol. So the London club could end up signing both.
I should also say (since he has been portrayed as such on here on a
regular basis) that while Gvardiol is a quick and nimble central defender,
I'm not sure either club should (or would) be signing him as a left-back.
