weekend with many European leagues beginning their 2022/23 seasons, while

Tino Anjorin started his second successive game for Huddersfield Town who
recorded their first three points of the season, beating Stoke City 3-1 on
Saturday. The Terriers had been pegged back in the second half after a
goal from former Blue Lewis Baker, but responded with two goals of their
own. Anjorin had two attempts, hitting the target once.
Elsewhere in the English second tier, Ian Maatsen and Burnley suffered
their first defeat of the season at Vicarage Road. Vincent Kompany's men
had 65 per cent possession at Watford but couldn't break down the Hornets,
who held firm for three points despite scoring with their only shot on
target.

Further down the English leagues, Sam McClelland started at centre-back in
Barrow's narrow 1-0 loss to Sutton United. It ended Barrow's 100 per cent
start to the new campaign.
Levi Colwill was an unused substitute for Brighton & Hove Albion in their
0-0 stalemate with Newcastle on Saturday, but the young defender did start
for the Under-21s, who hosted Liverpool. The match finished 1-1, with the
England youth international providing a sublime assist, with a long-range
through ball from the back.

Jamie Cumming, Lucas Bergstrom and Gabriel Slonina were all on the losing
side this weekend.
Cumming's MK Dons were beat convincingly by promotion-hopefuls Ipswich
Town in Suffolk, with fellow Chelsea loanee Henry Lawrence a half-time
substitute for the away side.

Bergstrom's Peterborough United were beaten 2-0 at Plymouth Argyle, while
Gabriel Slonina was on the wrong side of a 4-1 result away to Philadelphia
Union. Philadelphia are top of the MLS after 25 games, with the Fire sat
in 10th place, eight points above bottom side D.C. United.
The Serie A season got underway in Italy and Romelu Lukaku scored in a 2-1
win for Inter Milan. The Belgian scored a header against Lecce two minutes
into the match.

Bryan Fiabema was brought on in the 87th minute in Rosenborg's 5-2 victory
at Sandefjord in the Eliteserien, and scored the fifth goal in stoppage
time. The Norwegian showed great composure to slot away a right-footed
shot.

Malang Sarr was an unused substitute in Monaco's 1-1 draw at home to
Rennes, though he did only complete his loan move to Ligue 1 last
Wednesday.
