VINCENNES, Ind. (WTHI) – The Vincennes man accused of taking part in a sex
act in a Vincennes church has entered a change of plea agreement to a similar
case in Madison County, Indiana.
A source close to the court system told News 10, Derrick “Duke” Hampsch
will enter a guilty plea to sexual misconduct with a minor. He had previously
pleaded not guilty.
Hampsch was arrested by Vincennes Police Detectives in 2014 after a victim’s
family member came forward with allegations Hampsch took part in sex acts
with the victim. Hampsch, at that time, served as a Youth Pastor at First
Baptist Church in Vincennes.
A court document provided to News 10 explained in April of 2010, Duke fondled
the victim and had the victim fondle him. This incident, the document stated,
happened at a First Baptist Church event in Anderson, Indiana. The victim
told police, the church group stayed overnight at the Madison Park Church of
God.
According to court documents, another sex act happened at First Baptist
Church in Vincennes.
The victim told police while attending a church event, “[victim] accompanied
Duke in his office where he closed and locked the door,” the document reads.
Hampsch, according to police, had the victim fondle him.
Hampsch has a jury trial date set for the Vincennes case in September, where
he faces a charge of sexual misconduct with a minor.
