The wife of a Tennessee pastor is accused of having a sexual relationship
with a 17-year-old boy she met at her husband’s youth group, the Franklin
Police Department said.

On September 14, Ariel Stevenson, 25, was indicted on charges of statutory
rape and sexual exploitation of a minor.

According to a police press release, Stevenson met the alleged victim at her
husband’s church.

Details of the relationship were first reported to police in May, the press
release stated.

Police then conducted a lengthy criminal investigation before a grand jury
finally decided to indict Stevenson.

"To us, it's vitally important that we get this right, when you have charges
of this magnitude you want to make sure you're exact in what happened,"
Lieutenant Charles Warner told CNN affiliate WTVF on why the investigation
took so long.

"Any time you have a case involving a juvenile that's a special case that
really deserves our full attention, when you add in one of the more
interesting components to this case in that this victim met the suspect in
youth group at church because that's where her husband is employed as the
youth pastor that really makes people pay attention," Warner told WTVF.

Detectives are asking anyone with information regarding this incident or
other incidents involving Stevenson to contact Franklin Police Department’s
Criminal Investigation Division at 615-794-2513.

HLN reached out to the courts, but no attorney for Stevenson was listed in
records.

HLN also attempted to reach out to the church where Stevenson’s husband is
employed, but messages were not returned.
