Sanctification in the Methodist Church- Our socail creed



討論這個衛理宗的成聖觀之前，我先舉一個我在教會的生活經驗。

有一次跟一個別的宗派牧師查經，結束後在生活分享，

那個會友說他星期日可能不能來聚會，他在85度C上班，主日要排他上班，

那位牧師說我為你禱告，

求上帝挪去攔阻，讓不是基督徒的別人去排他的班，讓他可以來主日。

這種禱告對我來說，不是太自然。

如果全台灣都是基督徒，但是我們還是堅持目前每天都要有人上班的便利生活，

那我們該怎麼禱告呢?

成聖，在衛理宗來說，不是單指道德修養或靈魂得贖這種個人取向的取向，

也包含了對這受造界(包含目前的人類社會)走向上帝應許的美善，

正如舊約以賽亞書第2章4節與11章6節至9節的景象，

這種精神延伸到現在我們對當代議題的反省

因此我們如此祈禱:


We believe in God, Creator of the world; and in Jesus Christ, the Redeemer of
creation. We believe in the Holy Spirit, through whom we acknowledge God’s
gifts, and we repent of our sin in misusing these gifts to idolatrous ends.

We affirm the natural world as God’s handiwork and dedicate ourselves to its
preservation, enhancement, and faithful use by humankind.

We joyfully receive for ourselves and others the blessings of community,
sexuality, marriage, and the family.

We commit ourselves to the rights of men, women, children, youth, young
adults, the aging, and people with disabilities; to improvement of the
quality of life; and to the rights and dignity of all persons.

We believe in the right and duty of persons to work for the glory of God and
the good of themselves and others and in the protection of their welfare in
so doing; in the rights to property as a trust from God, collective
bargaining, and responsible consumption; and in the elimination of economic
and social distress.

We dedicate ourselves to peace throughout the world, to the rule of justice
and law among nations, and to individual freedom for all people of the world.

We believe in the present and final triumph of God’s Word in human affairs
and gladly accept our commission to manifest the life of the gospel in the
world. Amen.

大家可以試著寫寫看你的禱告 我常常覺得禱告才真正反映你對信仰的體會
至少我現在會這樣禱告
上帝阿 求你幫助他能夠有合適的工作 有機會更多的親近你
但是如果這是你對他的呼召  也求你讓他在工作的時候 能有機會榮耀你
也讓教會能夠召聚與你一樣經歷的人 能在主日之外的時間 一同敬拜你
更讓上帝改變眾人的心  能夠放下屬世的牽絆  來領受屬靈的豐盛
