A report by ESPN 1000 radio host David Kaplan revealed that
the Chicago Cubs offered star third baseman Kris Bryant a
$200 million extension, but Bryant and his agent Scott Boras
turned it down.
However, Sahadev Sharma of The Athletic said that a source
closely involved in the situation dismissed Kaplan's report
as being "simply not true."
Kaplan was quick to defend his reporting, claiming that he
never said the extension was offered recently, but that there
was, in fact, a rejection by Bryant and Boras to have any
preliminary discussions about a potential extension.
