The younger brother of the Diamondbacks' Chris Owings, Connor is similarly
built at 5-foot-9, 190 pounds. A senior at Coastal Carolina, Owings had a big
statistical year for the Chanticleers, batting .383/.490/.694 with 15 home
runs in 209 at-bats, but Coastal's ballpark is conducive to offense, and
scouts aren't convinced the bat will play at the next level. It's more power
over contact. Owings swings hard, which makes him prone to swinging and
missing. Owings has played all over the diamond in his college career and
provides versatility. A below-average runner, he fits best in pro ball in
left field or second base.
