I just visited the breakfast shop near my childhood home and ordered two vegetable omelets. This shop has been around for as long as I can remember, probably more than thirty or forty years. I moved away when I was in the third grade, so the owner no longer recognizes me. His son and daughter are now helping out in the shop. Local establishments like this are the best; they operate out of their own homes and can be passed down through generations. As long as the descendants are content and manage the family business well, they'll have no worries about their livelihood and can ensure a prosperous family. The younger generation should not disdain these seemingly lowly breakfast or noodle shops and instead aim for academic success, attending universities or graduate schools, only to abandon the family’s golden goose and seek a living in big cities. This would be a case of missing the forest for the trees, turning themselves into mere cogs in the urban machine, ultimately becoming part of the proletariat and risking the future of their lineage. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc), 來自: 180.176.74.189 (臺灣) ※ 文章網址: https://www.ptt.cc/bbs/Diary/M.1718666453.A.C02.html
