I used to think typhoons were nothing to fear. Often, typhoon warnings were
issued, but there would bo little wind and rain, making it seem like everyone
was overreacting, especially since the TV stations tended to exaggerate.
However, Typhoon Gaemi has made me realise the true terror of a typhoon for
the first time. From around nine yesterday morning until now, it's been a
full day of intense wind and rain, which will continue throughout today.
Hearing the howling wind outside, especially when trying to sleep at night,
is genuinely frightening. We didn't stock up on much food or supplies, which
was quite careless of us. It's a stark reminder not to underestimate the
power of nature.
