China has brought regional countries together to encourage peace, invested in
mineral and oil extraction in a country where hardly anyone else will invest
a penny, and put pressure on its ally, Pakistan, to stop helping the Taliban.
According to the Wall Street Journal, China even hosted a delegation of
Afghan Taliban officials in December, “to discuss the possibility of opening
talks with the Afghan government”.

China has never played such a diplomatic role outside its borders before
and success in Afghanistan could conceivably encourage Beijing to play a more
positive role with North Korea.
中文：在此之前，中國在外面從未扮演過像這樣的外交腳色，若在阿富汗的作法
可以成功，也許可鼓勵北京在北韓發揮更積極的作用。
想請問為什麼" ..and success in Afghanistan could....."
在這邊會翻譯成"若在阿富汗的..."？
這裡的"若"是怎麼看出來的？
是因為"conceivably"(可理解地) 嗎？？
