[請益] taking和stretching

There's no question that taking  care of the elderly and frail will

incur huge costs,stretching already overburdened pension and health-care

systems.



想請問各位高手

1.為何taking要加ing

2.taking care of 後面應該要接名詞，可是我查了一下字典。名詞是少女。形容詞是
  虛弱。

3. stretching為何要加ing。省略主詞？還是分詞構句 ？好像都不大像
