這個問題有在《賀氏英文法》看過。
基本上，one of the 複數名詞 後面的動詞有兩種情況：
一、【One of the 複數名詞】 + 動詞/be動詞。
這時的動詞用單數。
例如：One of the greatest musicians was killed in a car accident.
意義上的主詞是one而不是the greatest musicians，因為死於車禍的只是其中一位。
二、【One of the 複數名詞】 + 關代 (who/that) + 動詞/be動詞。
這時候的動詞用複數。
He is one of the greatest musicians that are known to us.
這裡的關代是指the greatest musicians，而他只是『為我們所知』的
最偉大音樂家的其中之一。形容詞子句修飾的意義上的主詞是
the greatest musicians 而非one。
因為「為我們所知」不是one，而是「最偉大的音樂家們」。
ps. 原句的greastest有誤，我已改正。
※ 引述《letmeask (Let me ask)》之銘言：
: He is one of the greastest musicians that ( is , are , be ) known to us.
: 請問為什麼括號的答案會是 are
: 如果是我的理解
: 我覺得that是代表前面的 he
: 後面接is
: 整句的意思是 他是最好的音樂家之一，並且為人所知
