: 在文法書上有讀到這一句: whose N = the N of which

按照句法觀點來說，這個規則錯了，因為'whose'就是換限定詞組的relativizer，
但'which'就是換名詞組的。

按照語義觀點來說，他們的意思差不多了，但你不用總是用'the'。
還有，如果那個名詞組指出施動者（或人類）的話，要用'who(m)'代替以上的'which'。

1.1.）I like this book.
1.2.) **This book's* contents* are fascinating.
1.) I like this book, whose contents are fascinating.

2.1.) I like this book.
2.2.) *The contents of *this book** are fascinating.
2.) I like this book, the contents of which are fascinating.

3.1.) Lil' John is black.
3.2.) **Lil' John's* father* was a doctor.
3.) Lil' John, **whose* father* was a doctor, is black.

4.1.) Lil' John is black.
4.2.) *The father of *Lil' John** was a doctor.
4.) Lil' John, *the father of *whom** was a doctor, is black.

不過，生來就說英語的人不會用"NP's N"代替"NP of NP"。

看著兩個例句：

5.1.) A trader has 400kg of rice.
5.2.) A trader sells *a part of that *400kg of rice** for profit.
5.) A trader has 400kg of rice, *a part of *which** he sells for profit.

6.1.) A trader has 400kg of rice.
6.2.) A trader sells **that 400kg of rice's* part* for profit. (怪)
6.) A trader has 400kg of rice, **whose* part* he sells for profit. (怪)

勸告：不要相信台灣的私營出版社，因為其中大部分的人員都沒有學語言學。

→ stu60912: I like the girl and the girl's her is short.
→ stu60912: --> I like the girl who's hair is short. (中間)
→ stu60912: --> I like the girl whose hair is short.(PF完的結果)

→ stu60912: 簡單講就是把原本應該是who's的，重新拼寫成whose

→ stu60912: --> ? I like the girl the hair of whom is short.
→ stu60912: 這兩種方式，應可解釋為何whose不會與the連用
