[文法] 同位語子句的that可省略否

The news that her son had been killed was a great shock to her.

想請教像這樣"that引導子句做為同位語"的句子中

該that是否可以省略?

google上有看到有人說不行，但在書上有看到下面這樣的句子:

In order to ensure that your computer continues to run efficiently

and to reduce the chance it will become defective, we will....(後面省略)

我的分析是上面chance後方應該省略了一個(that)

姑且不論分析是否正確，

想請教that引導同位語子句時，該that是否可以省略?

ps. 用"heard a rumor you" 和 "heard a rumor that you"

    作為關鍵字搜尋，得到結果分別為

    "heard a rumor you" = 11,300

    "heard a rumor that you" = 122,000
