「whatever it takes to succeed」 的主詞是 to succeed，it 是形式(虛)主詞。
收聽課文講解，「be it...」這裡是倒裝過的表讓步的子句(中翻裡的關鍵字「不管」)
be it scientific methods... = whether it is scientific methods...
另一個例子：
Tom eats a lot, be he at work or at home. =>
Tom eats a lot, whether he is at work or at home.
我閱讀實用空中美語，有時候沒空的話至少也會聽完中文講解，
裡面有很多文法是雜誌內容沒有寫出來的。
