如果是兩個獨立子句，中間連接詞前面很明顯要加逗號。（不過我也常看沒加的）
如果「主詞 動詞A and 動詞B」那就是明顯不要加逗號。
問題在於這四句都不屬於上述的條件：
Mix the flour and butter, and then add the eggs.
這句完全沒主詞，如果以祈使句來解讀，或許可看成
(YOU) Mix the flour and butter, and then (you) add the eggs.
另外三句就麻煩了，是不是這樣解讀：
(You should) Start off early, and then you won't have to rush.
(You) Let me finish this job, and then we'll go.
(You) Give her the letter to read, and then she'll understand.
如果以樓下I大的看法，是認為第一句可加，後三句不可加。
但如果用我的理解，這四句好像都可以看成獨立子句orz
