文法有點卡住，想請問一下：

He patted my shoulder, assuring me everything would work out.
(題目來自於The green banana)
我知道這題答案是「patted me on the shoulder」
但想確定後面「，+assuring」的部分，是因為省去連結詞所以用Ving嗎？
