[文法] 介系詞片語的修飾對象？

各位好，查牛津搭配詞典看到下列說明：

查note這個字

"Note" is used with these nouns as the subject:
author, document, observer, panel, report, researcher

"Note" is used with these nouns as the object:
change, difference, discrepancy, distinction, effect, importance,
improvement, parallel, passing, resemblance, sarcasm, similarity, suggestion

根據用法

第一句的意思應該是指「下列這些名詞當主詞時，note與其搭配使用...」
第二句的意思應該是指「下列這些名詞當受詞時，note與其搭配使用...」

問題來了，as the subject/object在這裡是不是有兩種修飾位置？

可以看成
Note is used .....as the subject/object
或
.......these nouns as the subject/object

要怎樣判斷as the subject/object是修飾Note，還是these nouns？

整理一下，我的問題是：

1.as the subject/object在這裡是否確實有兩種修飾位置？

2.若是，如何判斷它修飾哪一種位置？還是只能從實際例句的用法回推來看？

3.還是說，as the subject/object如果是修飾Note時，可以寫成以下這樣更好：

Note is used with these nouns, as the subject/object.

你好，我模糊的點在於，譬如這個說明：

"Note" is used with these nouns as the subject

我一開始會誤以為是指「"Note"當主詞，和下列名詞搭配使用」。
所以才有上面三個提問。

感謝各位，我瞭解了

1.先以修飾鄰近詞來理解，不通時再往較遠的另一個可能修飾詞來想。

2.另外還有一個更關鍵的，D大提到，note在此處是動詞，字典這部份是說明note(動詞)
和其它名詞的搭配用法。

（不過這裡得抱歉，我沒說清楚，其實該詞典前面就有註記此時note是當動詞用，
我上頭的貼文沒特別指明）

既然是動詞，就不可能當「主詞」，也不可能當「受詞」
（我的認知裡，只有名詞類能當主詞/受詞）。

換句話說，我一開始誤以為的：

Note is used .....as the subject/object

在語意或文法常識上根本是不通的。

不可能是「note(動詞，又當主詞？)+名詞」，或「名詞+note(動詞，又當受詞？)」

只能是「主詞 + note(動詞)」，或「note(動詞) + 受詞」。
