[文法] 想請問一下這個句子的文法

下面這句出自ALL+九月

對殖民者而言，派有一個很重要的好處，就是酥皮覆蓋可能包含鴨肉或鹿肉的東西，可以
在嚴寒的冬天讓肉質保鮮。

想問的是中間他用covered the contents, 我覺得應該要用convering the contents比較
好

why，shell在外面contents在裡面，應該是主動，所以用covering阿。。。
