[文法] in which? what? that?

Acupuncture, a form of alternative medicine in which a thin needle is inserted

into the body for curing illness, represents the deepest roots of traditional

Chinese medicine.

這是英文老師給我的句子 我的疑問是第一行為什麼是用in which呢?

依我以前學到的 which後所接的補語並無使用介係詞為in的動詞阿(例如 live+in)

不能直接用which就好嗎?

還是改用that 或 what會比較好? 又該怎麼修改呢?
