原文：In the age of scientific standardization and globalization,
one would hardly expect much variation in the biomedical understanding of AIDS.
And yet, at the margins such differences were felt.

疑問：第二句"at the margins"是什麼意思？

我的譯文：在科學標準化與全球化的年代，我們很難想像人們對於愛滋病的生物醫學了解
會有多大的差異，也不會想到這種差異會造成什麼嚴重的後果，然而我們可以在邊緣(?)
察覺其影響。
