大家好，請問一下

在麥克米倫辭典中看到這樣的例句：

quote v.

She claimed to be quoting from an official report.

想問的是，為何這裡要用be quoting？

我查claim的用法是：

claim(sb/sth) to be/do sth

那為何不寫成：

She claimed to quote from an official report.

原例句用be quoting是什麼意思呢？「正在引用一份官方資料」？

不能用不定詞的形式嗎？

→ dunchee: 那也是不定詞。一個可能的context是比如這個"She"是Mary

→ dunchee: 事後某人回述這件事(indirect speech的一種):
→ dunchee: She claimed to be quoting from an official report.
感謝，大概懂這種「不定詞進行式」的意思了。

但如果用單純的「不定詞」不行嗎？就像這樣：

She claimed to quote from an official report.

外國網友說用「不定詞現在式」看起來不自然。

推敲了一下，大概是因為現在式表示「習慣、反覆的動作、恆久的事實」，
如果這樣的話，就會變成「她聲稱她有引用官方資料的習慣」之類的意思。

我目前是這樣理解的。
