請問高手們一個英文文法問題

有關either...or...與both......and.....的問題

先請問一下either....or.....的部分
例句一：
Either you or your dad will pay for your mom.
(不是你就是你爸會幫你媽付錢)
有人問我說例句一的 「Either you or your dad」是不是當句子的主詞
我說應該不是
我說「Either you or your dad」應該是副詞性質修飾will pay
(因為牛津字典把either.....or.....放在either的adv.部分)
但是我不確定我講的對不對
請各位高手指教一下
