[請益] 關於where在free dictionary中的解釋

您好，關於where的這兩個用法，我看不太懂英文字典的解釋。

在當conj與pron時，都有以下兩個解釋。
1. At, to, or in a place in which.
2. At, to, or in a situation in which.

在當conj時，以下的例句:
He lives where the climate is mild.
是指可以改寫成這樣子嗎?
He lives in a place in which the climate is mild.

在當pron時，以下的例句:
She moved to a city where jobs were more plentiful.
也可以改寫成這樣子嗎?
She moved to a city in a place in which jobs were more plentiful.

很明顯第一句比較正常(但我不確定是不是對的)，但第二句一定是錯的。
請問錯的原因是什麼呢?(我覺得是因為where在這當pron使用，但我解釋不出來)
