大家好，請教一下

在英語論壇問了一個問題：

What is 'no smoking' shortened from?

（中間略過）

外國網友Roman55回應：

I don't think you can talk about it being 'shortened' from something else.

想問的是，如果不寫being是不是也可以呢？

我覺得'shortened'本來就可以當形容詞修飾it了，加being是不是會變成有「現在進行」
的狀態？請教一下，謝謝。

感謝，理解了，原來being確實是動名詞，而非表達進行式。如果寫成這樣就好懂了：
