[文法] 關於spend 用法一問

大家好~~我最近看youtube 上在分析Shawshank Redemption 的電影時 看到電影裡有一句話：
 He spent that break hunkered in the shade.
那一幕是在說Andy 坐在一旁看著大夥喝酒的場景

我的疑問是，通常用法是spend time doing something ，但這裡是用hunkered ，原因是因為他不是一個持續的動作而是描述一個狀態嗎？
