[單字] fall on one's lip-曼哈頓練習曲quotes

[dilema (Quasimodo)]

其中有一段是曾經幫助男主角的黑人歌手在跟女主角說:

...a guy like that falls on his lip for a couple of years.
People lose sight of who he is and they don't treat him with
the respect that he deserve.

大意是在說男主角失意了好幾年就逐漸被人群鄙視。

想請問fall on one's lip是一句慣用語嗎? 因為都沒找到資料，

也不排除是netflix的字幕錯誤就是。
