[請益] 佛教中的願

[GeraldLiu (Liu)]

請問一下佛教中的「願」，用那一個字比較合適？

wish, hope or want?

比方說，願所有人都快樂。

基本上我會寫成：

I wish everybady happy.

但又看過一些資料，說佛教中的「願」這個字，本來的意思是「欲」。後來因為願這個字
比較文雅之類的，才改的。

欲這個字用台語來講，又有點「要」的感覺。那對應的字就應該是want.

寫成英文就變成：

I want everybody happy.

所以，那個句子好？

還是其實兩個都可以？

hope的話我就不考慮……

再用英翻中變這樣，看起來應該是差不多。

願我下輩子有菩提。具有無限的智慧和便利。讓一切眾生無窮無盡。使用。不要讓所有眾
生都掉隊。


開頭的May I have Bodhi......

覺的改成May I got Bodhi......比較好。

最終修改版本：

May I got Bodhi in the next life, with boundless intelligence and convenience.
Let all sentient beings be endless, have enough food and clothes.

這樣不知行不行？

推 waggy: 如果是這個場合，通常"願"會譯為vow,本願譯為original vow

藥師經有整部英文的了，稍稍看了一下，第三大願英文是這樣：

The third vow is this: In a future lifetime, upon my enlightenment,may I
enable
all beings to gain an abundance of things most useful and enjoyable,
eliminating
all scarcity or want. This I will accomplish through boundless wisdom and
skillful
means beyond measure.

他就沒有用Bodhi這個字了，而是用enlightenment.
對我來說，單字還是蠻多的……
