根據文法規則 spend 用作「花錢」時的語意和句型搭配如下：
1. 〔+受〕花用 ，耗費<金錢>

Ill gotten [got], ill spent. 有不正當的收入，必有不正當的損失。
2. 〔+受+介+(代)名〕花<錢> 〔在…上面 〕〔on, for〕
He spends a lot of money on books. 他花很多錢用於買書。
3. 〔+受(+介)+ doing〕花錢，用錢〔做…〕〔in〕〈用法〉常省略 in
He spends a lot of money (in) entertaining his friends.
他花很多錢款待他的朋友。
所以，按照文法規則不應該用 spend money to V

■ not only ... but (also) 的問題
not only P1 but also P2 是文法所稱的「correlative conjunction 相關連接詞」。
其文法要求是 P1 與 P2 需要平行，也就 P1 與 P2 必須是同性質的詞類。

but to learn (不定詞) more about ...
的 P1, P2 分別是名詞與不定詞，違反了平行的規定
