Recently my position became a telecommuting position, which means I now work from home. My little home office has two computers and four monitors constantly humming away. I was once (and in some respects still am) a freelancer, so working from home should have been easy for me, but it's not. I am not a very disciplined person, so I find it hard to sit at my office computer when my home computer is beckoning from only about 2 feet away, "come and play with me...". My lack of discipline is also evident in other aspects. In the first week I would get up at 7, get dressed as if going to work, then walk into my home office and get started at 8:30; now I would get out of bed at 8:25 and get to work directly, delaying my morning ablutions until I have the morning emails under control, then leaving my computer to go shower and get dressed. I might go a whole day without talking to a person, and I seem to be fine with that. I don't know if I should be worried that I might go a whole day without talking to another person, or if I should be worried that I'm okay with not talking to another person the whole day. Before you brand me an otaku, I should confess that I am actually reasonably active; I'm no fitness guru, but I am taking advanced scuba diving classes (I'm already a certified diver), and will be working towards my ski instructor certification this winter. Once upon a time I was very interested in law; I still am, but am no longer interested in becoming a lawyer. My goal now is to become an itinerant instructor in skiing and scuba diving, and if I can obtain a pilot's license in the meantime, so much the better! Well, back to the issue of working from home. I guess even I get lonely, and that's why I'm writing this... -- 'Cause it's a bittersweet symphony, this life Trying to make ends meet, You're a slave to money then you die -Bittersweet Symphony, The Verve -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc), 來自: 72.207.108.88 ※ 文章網址: https://www.ptt.cc/bbs/EngTalk/M.1434427363.A.5C0.html
