圖文版：英國湖區Grasmere： 踏著詩人的腳步，品嘗歷史的薑餅

Grasmere是英國湖區附近的一個小鎮，再說這個小鎮前先說一下湖區的兩位重要人物，因
為到英國湖區遊玩必定會在湖區常常看到與他們相關的遺跡，一個是畫彼得兔的波特小姐
另外一個是英國著名詩人William Wordsworth (1770年~1850年，是英國著名的浪漫詩人)
。William Wordsworth最後長眠的地方就是在Grasmere，而紀念William Wordsworth的花
園入口處就是有著一家已經開了160年以上歷史賣薑餅的小店。紀念William Wordsworth
的花園在2003年整修時因為缺少經費所以就公開募款，然後讓有捐款的人其名字與居住地
被刻在石板上留念。從大門口進去後的第一塊石板上刻著William Wordsworth一首有名的
詩"I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud( 我孤獨地漫遊，像一朵雲)"的前幾句。

我孤獨地漫遊，像一朵雲
That floats on high o'er vales and hills
在山丘和谷地上飄蕩
When all at once I saw a crowd
忽然間我看見一群
A host, of golden daffodils
金色的水仙花迎春開放
Beside the lake, beneath the trees
在樹蔭下，在湖水邊
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze
迎著微風起舞翩翩
Continuous as the stars that shine
連綿不絕，如繁星燦爛
And twinkle on the milky way
在銀河裏閃閃發光
They stretched in never-ending line
它們沿著湖灣的邊緣
Along the margin of a bay
無窮無盡的延伸
Ten thousand saw I at a glance
一眼可看千萬朵
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance
在歡舞之中起伏搖擺
The waves beside them danced; but they
粼粼波光也跳著舞
Out-did the sparkling waves in glee
水仙的歡欣卻勝過水波
A poet could not but be gay
與這樣快活的伴侶為伍
In such a jocund company
怎能不滿心歡樂
I gazed--and gazed--but little thought
我久久凝望，卻想像不到
What wealth the show to me had brought
這奇景賦予我多少財寶
For oft, when on my couch I lie
每當我躺在長椅上
In vacant or in pensive mood
心神空茫或默默沉思
They flash upon that inward eye
它們就會在心靈中閃現
Which is the bliss of solitude
那是孤獨中的幸福
And then my heart with pleasure fills
於是我的心便漲滿幸福
And dances with the daffodils
和水仙一同翩翩起舞。
William Wordsworth紀念花園旁邊有個教堂和墳墓群，那裏可以看到Wordsworth家族墓地
的指示牌順著標示可找到Wordsworth的目的，那裏埋葬了William Wordsworth本人和他的
妻子與女兒。
緬懷William Wordsworth後轉往花園旁的Sarah Nelson's Grasmere gingerbread shop，
這間傳承自1854年的薑餅店一直保持著最古老的製作方式先前也被英國皇室選為凱特王妃
結婚時的喜餅之一。這家小店裡的店員打扮也還是模仿19世紀時的英國鄉村風的裝扮。
這家薑餅吃起來跟一般的薑餅真的很不一樣，有點像是胚芽餅的口感帶是充滿了滿滿的
老薑味恰到好處的甜味讓整體更加協調，連我這個不喜歡吃薑餅的人都會想要買些回來跟
家人分享。
吃完薑餅後我們就趕快回到公車站附近準備最後一班車回到住宿的小鎮，因為湖區這裡美
的小鎮距離都很遠但是客運班次都很少錯過了就準備在那個小鎮自己想辦法過夜因此時間
的拿捏上要很注意，之後會有一篇講湖區交通篇的介紹。
