FIFA president Gianni Infantino is exploring the sale of a 20–30% stake in a ne
w company that would own and manage the World Cup, in a deal valuing the busines
s at around ￡15 billion.
FIFA would retain majority control, while member associations and private invest
ors would hold minority stakes.
The proposal, reportedly being handled by JP Morgan, has sparked concern within
football over the possibility of an expanded tournament or more frequent World C
ups.
Reports also suggest Infantino could become commissioner of the new company afte
r his FIFA presidency ends in 2031, potentially earning millions in the role
