Royals manager Ned Yost said Thursday that Greg Holland has a "significant"
tear of the ulnar collateral ligament in his throwing elbow.
Yost believes that Holland tore the ligament last August, which is pretty
amazing considering how well he pitched in the postseason. Of course, this
season has been a different story, with his velocity dipping as the year has
gone along. He's scheduled to go for a second opinion next week, but Tommy
John surgery appears likely, which would leave him sidelined for all of 2016.
If that's the case, he's a clear non-tender this winter.
