又到了Kory的CR詳解時間,這次想跟大家分享的題目是OG16的112題,希望能帶給大家一些思考方向,如果同學有任何問題,歡迎和我討論, 不過也歡迎其他同學"點歌",這樣我就知道之後CR詳解時間要分享哪些題目囉! 112. Theater Critic: The play La Finestrina, now at Central Theater, was written in Italy in the eighteenth century. The director claims that this production is as similar to the original production as is possible in a modern theater. Although the actor who plays Harlequin the clown gives a performance very reminiscent of the twentieth-century American comedian Groucho Marx, Marx’s comic style was very much within the comic acting tradition that had begun in sixteenth-century Italy. The considerations given best serve as part of an argument that (A) modern audiences would find it hard to tolerate certain characteristics of a historically accurate performance of an eighteenth-century play (B) Groucho Marx once performed the part of the character Harlequin in La Finestrina (C) in the United States the training of actors in the twentieth century is based on principles that do not differ radically from those that underlay the training of actors in eighteenth-century Italy (D) the performance of the actor who plays Harlequin in La Finestrina does not serve as evidence against the director’s claim (E) the director of La Finestrina must have advised the actor who plays Harlequin to model his performance on comic performances of Groucho Marx 分析: 首先值得注意的是,這題是一個"conclusion"的題型,請特別看懂問句:the considerations given指上面的題幹,最能成為下列一個論述的一部分,選項都是that形容詞子句後面修飾argument的部分,所以下列的五個選項都是"argument" 接著把題幹大概看懂: 有個影評是這麼說的:現在正在中央戲院上演的戲「拉‧芬妮絲崔娜」是18世紀在義大利寫成的,這部戲的導演臭屁說這次的製作是在現代戲院裡所能呈現最接近原著的一個。"雖然"主演那個哈利坤小丑的演員演戲的風格非常像20世紀的美國喜劇演員果邱‧馬克思,"但是"果邱‧馬克思的喜劇風格是源自於開始於16世紀義大利的喜劇風格的。 首先值得注意的是,導演有下了一個"判斷","這次的製作是在現代戲院裡所能呈現最接近原著的一個",同學不妨把這個當然一個結論句: conditions (根據這個製作的各種條件) ---> 最接近原著 (未知) 往下繼續看會發現與其說這題是CR,倒不如說這裡更像是RC,請特別注意我用引號幫大家在最後一句話裡標註的地方。回頭看原題幹,對應的就是那個"Although"。反應很快的同學應該已經知道我想講甚麼了,沒錯,這句話不就是RC裡面我們常常在討論的"讓步句"嗎?當然英文裡只有"雖然"的部分,沒有"但是"的部分,但我很刻意加上去讓大家在理解上會更有感覺 再看一次,"雖然"主演那個哈利坤小丑的演員演戲的風格非常像20世紀的美國喜劇演員果邱‧馬克思,"但是"果邱‧馬克思的喜劇風格是源自於開始於16世紀義大利的喜劇風格的。 接著根據上面有的這些considerations,請你看看下面哪一個argument是可以推得出來的? (A) modern audiences would find it hard to tolerate certain characteristics of a historically accurate performance of an eighteenth-century play 上面的題幹完全沒有提到過現代觀眾如何如何,主角(role)明顯偏離,而根據上面所說的我們也推不出他們會不會喜歡以前的風格,主題無關(topic) (B) Groucho Marx once performed the part of the character Harlequin in La Finestrina 我們哪知道果邱‧馬克思之前有沒有參與過拉‧芬妮絲崔娜並演出哈利坤(推不出)...而且以時間偏好來說,這個選項明顯在講這個人的過去,不好 (C) in the United States the training of actors in the twentieth century is based on principles that do not differ radically from those that underlay the training of actors in eighteenth-century Italy 這是最混淆的選項,我們已知的條件是果邱‧馬克思演戲的風格是從16世紀義大利發展來的,但這樣能不能擴大範圍說"美國的演員訓練都是建立在跟18世紀義大利差不多的原則上?"明顯不行,這也是過度推論,另外比較細心的同學應該也注意到了,果邱‧馬克思的風格是源自"16世紀",但這個選項說的是"18世紀",以時間年代來說,out of scope (D) the performance of the actor who plays Harlequin in La Finestrina does not serve as evidence against the director’s claim 正確答案,這個讓步句的內容"Although the actor who plays Harlequin the clown gives a performance very reminiscent of the twentieth-century American comedian Groucho Marx, Marx’s comic style was very much within the comic acting tradition that had begun in sixteenth-century Italy."說明了這個演員雖然比較像美國的果邱‧馬克思,但果邱‧馬克思也的演戲風格也是從義大利來的,所以男主角這點並不會成為反對導演所說""this production is as similar to the original production as is possible in a modern theater."的呈堂證供,請特別把讓步句的概念想清楚:我承認他像美國的果邱‧馬克思,但是果邱‧馬克思也是從義大利學來的,句子的重心在後面!
