為什麼 bumblebee workers 的 size 有變化？幼蟲是直接在蜂巢中被直接養大的。因此
成年的蜂 determine 幼蟲的 size。Bumblebee 不像其他的 honeybees 一樣有組織性，
且週邊的巢穴不像中間的那麼容易得到關注。但是，因為得不到關注才使得 size 變化很
大也不太靠譜。鑒於幼蟲都是由工蜂所關注的，所以很有可能 size 的變化是有適應性功
效的且蜂巢會因此受益。

Du Bois 1868年2月23日－1963年8月27日)是美國社會學家、歷史學家、民權運動者、泛

環境中長大。他是哈佛大學第一個取得博士學位的非裔美國人，畢業之後任職於亞特蘭大

DMS、algae與climate的影響，前面無關緊要的不太記得了。主要思想如下：
DMS在氣溫升高時，釋放甚麼東西，使海藻（algae）的活動旺盛，然後導致氣溫下降，
DMS釋放減少，海藻活動減弱，氣溫回升。如此循環地協助控制氣候(climate)。然而人們
發現DMS在這個過程中，不僅僅對氣候的調節有作用，還對海藻的生存有幫助。它可以讓
生存在海洋表層的氣溫下降，從而冷水下降到海洋下方，相對的暖流浮上來，這種暖流會
同時帶來營養物質給海藻生存。

distribution company with food storage warehouses in several cities.
Recently, we signed a contract with the Fly-Away Pest Control Company to
provide pest control services at our fast-food warehouse in Palm City, but
last month we discovered that over $20,000 worth of food there had been
destroyed by pest damage. Meanwhile, the Buzzoff Pest Control Company, which
we have used for many years, continued to service our warehouse in
Wintervale, and last month only $10,000 worth of the food stored there had
been destroyed by pest damage. Even though the price charged by Fly-Away is
considerably lower, our best means of saving money is to return to Buzzoff
for all our pest control services.
5. The following appeared in a letter to the editor of the Balmer Island
Gazette.
"On Balmer Island, where mopeds serve as a popular form of transportation,
the population increases to 100,000 during the summer months. To reduce the
number of accidents involving mopeds and pedestrians, the town council of
Balmer Island should limit the number of mopeds rented by the island's moped
rental companies from 50 per day to 25 per day during the summer season. By
limiting the number of rentals, the town council will attain the 50 percent
annual reduction in moped accidents that was achieved last year on the
neighboring island of Seaville, when Seaville's town council enforced similar
limits on moped rentals."
48. The following appeared in a magazine article about planning for
retirement.
"Clearview should be a top choice for anyone seeking a place to retire,
because it has spectacular natural beauty and a consistent climate. Another
advantage is that housing costs in Clearview have fallen significantly during
the past year, and taxes remain lower than those in neighboring towns.
Moreover, Clearview's mayor promises many new programs to improve schools,
streets, and public services. And best of all, retirees in Clearview can also
expect excellent health care as they grow older, since the number of
physicians in the area is far greater than the national average."
