The White House asked Ukrainian officials if President Volodymyr Zelensky will
 wear a suit to his meeting with President Trump in the Oval Office on Monday,
 two sources with direct knowledge tell Axios.

兩位直接了解情況的消息人士告訴 Axios，白宮詢問烏克蘭官員，澤倫斯基週一在橢圓形
辦公室會見川普總統時是否會穿西裝。

Why it matters: Zelensky's outfit became an issue ahead of his previous Oval O
ffice meeting with Trump in March, which exploded into a diplomatic fiasco.

重要性：澤連斯基的著裝在他 3 月與川普在橢圓形辦公室會晤之前就成為一個問題，那
次會晤最終演變成一場外交災難。

Flashback: Trump didn't like Zelensky's military-style attire. He offered a sa
rcastic aside — "he is all dressed up today" — when he welcomed him into the
 West Wing.

Some U.S. officials thought at the time that the suit issue contributed somewh
at to the disastrous outcome of the meeting.

What to watch: The sources said Zelensky will show up at the White House on Mo
nday wearing the same black jacket he wore to a NATO summit in the Netherlands
 in June. "It is going to be 'suit-style' but not a full suit," one of the sou
rces said.

觀察點：消息人士稱，澤連斯基將於週一抵達白宮，身穿他6月出席荷蘭北約峰會時穿的

The NATO summit was the first time Zelensky had worn a business-style jacket s
ince the 2022 invasion, and U.S. officials said that Trump was pleased by it.

"Zelensky came like a normal human being, not crazy, and was dressed like a so
mebody that should be at NATO. ... So they had a good conversation," a U.S. of
ficial told Axios at the time.

這次北約峰會是澤連斯基自2022年入侵以來首次穿著商務夾克，美國官員表示川普對此感
到滿意。

一位美國官員當時告訴 Axios ： “澤連斯基就像一個正常人一樣出現，並不瘋狂，而且
他的穿著打扮也像是北約的官員……所以他們進行了一次愉快的交談。”

The other side: One Trump adviser, partially in jest, told Axios that "it woul
d be a good sign for peace" if Zelensky wore a suit on Monday, but added: "We
don't expect him to do it."

另外觀點：川普的一位顧問半開玩笑地告訴 Axios，如果澤連斯基週一穿西裝，“這將是
和平的好兆頭”，但他補充說：“我們並不指望他這樣做。”

Said another: "It would be great if he wore a tie but we don't expect him to."

The source added that Vice President Vance was more annoyed than Trump by Zele
nsky's look and attitude the last time around. "The tie thing was a JD thing w
hen it first happened."
Zelensky won't wear a tie on Monday, the sources said.

另一位網友表示：“如果他戴領帶就好了，但我們並不指望他這麼做。”
消息人士補充說，上次澤倫斯基的外表和態度讓萬斯副總統比川普更惱火。 “領帶事件
剛發生的時候，是京東的事情。”
消息人士稱，澤連斯基週一不會戴領帶。

Between the lines: Trump is a big believer looking the part, which in his mind
，for a world leader, means wearing a suit. But his displeasure with Zelensky
last time was about more than his clothes, his advisers say.

U.S. officials say he has gotten better at appealing to Trump.

"Give him some credit. He's not as bad as he used to be," the second Trump adv
iser said.
The intrigue: Asked if the summit will be a repeat of the last time, the advis
er said, "No, absolutely not."

字裡行間：川普堅信外表要符合角色，在他看來，對一位世界領導人來說，這意味著要穿
西裝。但他的顧問表示，他上次對澤連斯基的不滿不僅僅是因為他的衣著。

美國官員表示，他已經越來越善於吸引川普了。
「給他一些信任吧。他不像以前那麼糟糕了，」第二位川普顧問說。

"They've traveled very, very far, both of them. Zelensky will not show him pic
tures of dead children and then act like it's somehow his fault. The president
 has learned to just sort of like, you know, file away any irritations and go
forward."

Zelensky will also have European leaders alongside him as well, the adviser sa
id, "so it will be a very different complexion than the last meeting."

有趣的是：當被問及此次峰會是否會重複上次的情況時，這位顧問回答說：“不，絕對不
會。”

「他們倆都翻頁了，澤連斯基不會給他看死去孩子的照片，然後又假裝這是他的錯。總統
已經學會了，你知道，把所有惱怒都拋到一邊，繼續前進。”

該顧問表示，澤連斯基還將與歐洲領導人會面，“因此這次會晤的氣氛將與上一次會晤截
然不同。”
