Eight Buddhist monks have been killed and 13 others have been seriously
injured after a pick-up truck crashed into a walking pilgrimage in Thailand.

The incident occurred at around 12pm local time [6am BST] on Thursday, in the
Mukdahan province in the northeast of Thailand. Five monks were pronounced
dead at the scene, while the three others died at Mukdahan Hospital.

在泰國，一輛皮卡車撞入一群步行朝聖者，造成8名佛教僧侶死亡，另有13人重傷。

事件發生在當地時間週四中午12點左右（英國夏令時上午6點），地點位於泰國東北部的
穆達漢府。五名僧侶當場死亡，其餘三名僧侶在穆達漢醫院不治身亡。

The pick-up truck involved was allegedly driven by an 11-year-old boy who is
understood to have taken the vehicle out on the road without an adult's
permission, khaosodenglish.com reports. The crash took place at the roadside
in Ban Na Si Nuan in the Mueang district and, while the driver's age has not
been officially confirmed, it is understood a suspect is now in custody.

根據khaosodenglish.com報道，涉事皮卡車據稱由一名11歲男童駕駛，據悉該男童未經成
人許可擅自駕車上路。事故發生在孟加拉國Mueang區Ban Na Si Nuan村路邊。雖然駕駛員
的年齡尚未得到官方確認，但據了解，一名嫌疑人已被拘留。

Monks were found lying on the road and roadside when emergency services
arrived to the scene, which was cordoned off. The 13 injured monks were taken
to nearby hospitals for treatment as their injuries were critical. Five
others suffered less serious injuries.

A total of 34 monks were part of the pilgrimage from Nam Khun district in
Ubon Ratchathani to Don Tan district in Mukdahan. An investigation remains
ongoing as officers are working to establish the full circumstances of the
incident.

救援人員趕到現場時，發現有僧侶躺在路面和路邊，現場已被封鎖。 13名受傷僧侶傷勢
嚴重，已被送往附近醫院接受治療。另有5名僧侶傷勢較輕。

共有34名僧侶從烏汶府南坤縣前往穆達漢府東丹縣朝聖。目前，警方仍在調查中，以查明
事件的全部情況。
