[問題] 有關數量的表示方式?

抱歉 原本發在Eng-class 但還是不太理解...

請問有關writing的task1 數量的表示方式大家都怎麼寫呢?

the amount of
the number of
the quantity of

目前查了一下 the amount of  +不可數
             the number of  +可數
             the quantity of+可數及不可數

那請問 如果我要比較不同年(或方法)的數量

amount number quantity可以複數型式嗎?

例如

the numbers of goods transported by rail and water are the same.
(想法是 因為我要比較的是兩種方式的"總數" 所以有兩個總數 number+s)


或是

the amounts of merchandise transported by rail and water are the same.
(同上)

還是遇到上開一律都以單數表示呢?
